He shuns the popular and sweet images of Barongs and Legong dancers, seeking a more fluid medium of depiction. It is not so much that Sika's is world of strange reality, but rather the ordinary world seen strangely. His works are not just a visual explanation of the Balinese universe, but the catharsis of his own personal journey from one reality to another. Ironically Sika and others like him are better recog- nized in Europe, Japan and America than in their native island.
